"I didn't have a place to stay near my family and it was really weighing on me,"
"When I worked at Glossier, we cast [ Clara Cornet] in a campaign, so I had seen the bathroom,"
"I preferred to get a smaller space and make it into my little jewel box,"
Mélanie Masarin moved from New York City to Los Angeles in late 2019 and continued building the Ghia aperitif brand while longing for proximity to Paris. Mortgage complications in France lengthened her search to about two and a half years before she found a fourth-floor walkup in Haut-Marais with old floors and an open kitchen layout. The monochrome pink bathroom immediately resonated due to a prior connection with Glossier and Clara Cornet. The 620-square-foot space had been vacated by a couple who needed more room after having a child. Masarin chose a smaller pied-à-terre to renovate into a compact, cherished home.
