Munich's Oktoberfest grounds have remained closed until at least 5 p.m. Wednesday after a bomb threat linked to an explosion in the city's north, local authorities have said. Police said the closure followed a fire in a house in the Lerchenau district, where explosive devices were discovered. Officers said they are investigating possible connections to the Theresienwiese festival site and other locations, though no specific threat has been confirmed.
Tánaiste Simon Harris has said the "sustained, relentless nature" of threats targeting his children and family must be called out and not "glossed over".
A spokesman for An Garda Siochana, said they were investigating the matter. A source said that this afternoon at around 3pm calls were received by three different garda stations in which male voices indicated there was some sort of bomb at the home of the Tanaiste. Mr Harris and his family were not home at the time. Gardaí responded to the threats and went to the home of Mr Harris. It is understood that a sniffer dog was used in the assessment of the threat.
Air India stated that Flight AI114 from Birmingham to Delhi was diverted to Riyadh after receiving a bomb threat, landing safely and undergoing security checks.
A United Airlines flight from Honolulu to Los Angeles was diverted back due to a security concern found written in a lavatory, while a Hawaiian Airlines flight experienced a bomb threat, leading to arrests.
