Hosue G&S / Barella Arquitectura

The program addresses the use of a family that lived in an apartment in Buenos Aires and decided to move to Córdoba during the pandemic. The land is located on the outskirts, in a gated community, in the southwest of the city, covering an area of 1500 m2, with a slight negative slope and a north-facing front. The house is designed with a clear functional distribution that manifests in the volumetric composition.

ring-shaped residence by alexis dornier wraps around verdant inner courtyard in bali

Villa Omah Prana by Alexis Dornier unfolds as a circular retreat that feels absorbed into the landscape of Payangan's forested slopes, just north of Ubud, Bali. The 475-square-meter residence adopts a compound-like arrangement organized around a lush internal courtyard. Its low, continuous timber roofline and radial plan echo local vernacular geometries. The project sits like a ring placed over the terrain, with the broad, funnel-like roof forming a shaded perimeter walkway and an introverted core.

wooden facade parts like a curtain revealing japanese residence's sunlit interiors

Surrounded by existing buildings on three sides and facing a road to the north, the site presented limited opportunities for natural light. The design introduces a 40 sqm courtyard positioned on the north side of the house. This open void functions as the primary light source, channeling daylight deep into the interior while also supporting natural ventilation. Enclosed by walls, the courtyard establishes a private yet semi-outdoor space that shields the interior from surrounding views.
