Crystal Palace are exploring an ambitious January swoop for Tottenham Hotspur winger Brennan Johnson, according to The Telegraph. Manager Oliver Glasner is eager to strengthen his attacking options as the Eagles look to push for European qualification in the second half of the season. Palace have identified Johnson as one of several potential attacking targets, with the Wales international seen as an ideal fit for Glasner's high-tempo system.

As first reported here for the Daily Briefing, the Eagles are making Diomande a top target to replace Marc Guehi, who continues to be targeted by Liverpool and other big clubs around Europe. Sporting don't want to sell Diomande and are pointing to his 80m release clause, which one imagines could prove problematic for Palace, but perhaps less so for Chelsea.

He's slotted into the side brilliantly, especially this season after what was a slow start, and obviously was key in the team that won the FA Cup last year. Lineker made 468 senior club appearances for the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Leicester City and Everton. Notably, however, he never had any connection to Palace or United. It was therefore slightly surprising when TNT Sports' cameras cut to the former striker, taking in the game from the stands.

We had talks, but we didn't find the right club. His contract will end next summer. I hope he continues his career in the best way. We want to prepare and support him for that.
