The Dallas Cowboys have spent the last few seasons shuffling around resources as they try their hardest to build a balanced football team. Managing funds is never easy, but the front office has been remarkably aggressive in shifting resources to find the right combination of talent to get them in the win column on Sundays. By navigating a series of big trades, saying some very difficult goodbyes, and wading into the free agent pool a little deeper, they have completely remodeled the roster. The goal was always a more balanced football team, but the journey to get there has been a wild ride of moving money from one position group to another.

Pickens addition to the offense added an explosive element to the Cowboys' passing attack that we haven't seen in a few years. But CeeDee Lamb missed multiple games in 2025 with a high-ankle sprain and a concussion suffered in the Detroit Lions loss. With Lamb missing time throughout the season, George Pickens was asked to carry a heavy workload as the teams WR1 for parts of the season. Pickens shined for the most part in those games, but keeping both Lamb and Pickens healthy and on the field together for all 17 games would help the Cowboys offense be even more efficient, put up more yards and points in 2026.

The Cowboys took a shot on Javonte Williams, the former Broncos star who had struggled following an early-career ACL injury, and it paid off in a big way. At just 24-years-old, Dallas got him on a ridiculously cheap one-year "prove-it deal" - let's just say he did quite the job proving it. Williams ran for career highs in rushing and overall looked like the guy we had seen years ago. Dallas made it a priority to re-up their emerging back this offseason, and they did with a 3-year, $24M deal that is already looking like great value.

In the final game of the 2025 season, Cowboys fans got a glimpse of why Blue was highly-touted in the draft. In Week 18 against the New York Giants, Blue rushed 16 times for 64 yards and a touchdown. Blue's ability to generate explosive plays on the ground or as a receiver were never an issue, but his ability to pass protect, take care of the football, and take the Monday through Saturday stuff seriously seemed to be.

Schoonmaker has not lived up to his second round status after Dallas drafted him in the second round. He has a total of 438 yards and three touchdowns in three years, yikes.
