A Status Yellow rain warning has also been issued for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 5am to 5pm on Monday, with heavy showers potentially leading to difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility and localised flooding. The windy conditions could also lead to the displacement of debris and loose objects. Some heavy, possibly thundery showers, are expected this afternoon in the west and northwest of the country, with a mix of sunny spells and showers on the way elsewhere as winds strengthen into the evening.
Today will bring sunny spells and showers, with some heavy showers in the mix as well. The 80,000 revellers flocking to Stradbally should keep the raincoats and wellies handy. The north and west of the country will get the worst of the rain, while there will be more sunshine in the east and southeast. Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 20C.
