One of the more interesting stories to come out of the world of professional sports this week was Philip Rivers coming out of retirement to sign as a quarterback on the practice squad of the Indianapolis Colts. Rivers retired from the NFL after the 2020 season. He's 44 years old. He is literally a grandfather. Yet he just signed a professional football contract.
"I certainly thought about it for a while and then I really started to think about it when (Boston College coaching legend Jerry York) went in (in 2019). Jerry absolutely deserved to be in but Jack should be in, too," said Corbett. "I gave it a lot of thought and I knew of Jim Rice and (late statistician) Dick Bresciani of the Red Sox and he was really the driving force to get Jim Rice's candidacy heard and eventually got him into Cooperstown."
Giacomin played 14 seasons in the NHL and spent 10-plus with the Rangers, winning 267 of his 290 games in New York and the 1971 Vezina Trophy awarded annually to the league's top goaltender alongside teammate Gilles Villemure. He was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1987 and had his No. 1 retired by the Rangers two years later on March 15, 1989.

Holtby had a tremendous 2015-16 season, posting a record of 48-9-7, a .922 save percentage, and three shutouts, helping the Capitals win the Presidents' Trophy.
