Tampa Bay Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans is expected to miss three to four weeks with a strained left hamstring, sources told ESPN. Evans suffered the injury in fourth quarter of Sunday's victory over the New York Jets. An MRI on Tuesday showed that Evans has a moderate strain, according to sources. Evans, 32, has battled hamstring issues in the past, missing three games last year and three in 2019 due to injuries to his right hamstring.
The Titans placed Sweat on the reserve/injured list on Saturday. Sweat suffered an ankle injury in Tennessee's season opening loss to the Denver Broncos. The 6-foot-4, 366-pound lineman was not available for last week's game against the Los Angeles Rams. Sweat worked a side field during practice on Wednesday and was seen doing light jogging before taking part in individual period on Thursday. The Titans ruled Sweat out for Week 3 after he missed practice on Friday.
CHICAGO -- Chicago Bears Pro Bowl cornerback Jaylon Johnson was placed on injured reserve Saturday where he will be sidelined for a minimum of four games. Johnson, 26, dealt with a groin injury this summer that forced him to miss all of training camp, the preseason and Chicago's season opener against Minnesota. He returned in Week 2 at Detroit but exited the game in the second quarter after breaking up a pass.

CINCINNATI -- Cincinnati Bengals coach Zac Taylor did not have an official timeline for quarterback Joe Burrow to return following successful toe surgery on Friday. Burrow underwent surgery to repair a turf toe injury on his left foot, Taylor said after Friday's practice. The coach said the surgery went well. "There's no reason to give a timeline," Taylor said. "We don't have a timeline. Now he's just in recovery and we'll go from there."
"We're not going to truly rule out the possibility of Steve [Avila] being able to go, but fortunately for us, we have established some depth where we've got some guys that if they need to be able to step up, they've shown that they're more than capable of that," McVay said.
Daniels, who rehabbed a torn Achilles on his right leg in the offseason, popped up on the Dolphins' injury report Thursday for an ankle injury on the left leg. He left Thursday's practice early as a limited participant and did not take part in Friday drills. With Daniels good to go, Miami will have its full projected starting offensive line available for Sunday's opener in Indianapolis. Alabama wide receiver Ryan Williams is not expected to play against Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday as he works through the protocol from a concussion suffered against Florida State, sources told ESPN's Pete Thamel. Williams, a preseason Associated Press All-American, was helped off the field midway through the fourth quarter of the 31-17 loss last Saturday after his helmet slammed into the ground following his third dropped pass of the game.
"I'm certainly expecting Cam to play," Tomlin said in his weekly news conference Tuesday. "Cam doesn't play a lot in team development over the last several years. My job is to get him in and out of Latrobe, and I've done my job. And so, there are no reservations about his participation or his readiness. I'm sure he's chopping at the bit."
In another hit to the Tennessee Volunteers' secondary, starting cornerback Rickey Gibson III will be out for "an extended period" after injuring his left arm in Saturday's season-opening win against Syracuse. Gibson, a returning starter, left Saturday's game in the second quarter. Coach Josh Heupel did not specify what the injury was or reveal a possible timeline for the return of Gibson, who had 32 tackles, 5 pass breakups and a forced fumble last season, The No. 24 Vols face East Tennessee State on Saturday before hosting No. 5 Georgia on Sept. 13.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Carolina Panthers could be without starting left tackle Ickey Ekwonu for their opener after an emergency appendectomy on Sunday. Coach Dave Canales said Wednesday the status of the sixth pick of the 2022 draft is day-to-day, and likely will be up until the Sept. 7 game at Jacksonville. "We've seen these things turn around in a little over a week,'' Canales said. "It can be longer. It just depends on each individual's body, on how you respond to the surgery, how your body heals the right way.
