It was with deep sadness that the KFO learned of the death of Kevin McCloskey from Killybegs, owner of the FV K-Mar-K who lost his life doing what he loved, fishing, Kevin was a former Board member and chairman of the KFO in 2002. He was a respected and experienced fishermen having worked all his life in the industry, and noted for his positive outlook on life.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to a report of a man found unresponsive at a residence on Harbour View Drive in Killybegs. The man, aged in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body remains at the scene, preserved for forensic examination. The local Coroner has been notified, and a post-mortem examination will be arranged by the State Pathologist, with results influencing the investigation's direction.
