Media reports have said there was an explosion in the northern part of the city. A fire in a detached house in northern Munich set off a large emergency operation on Tuesday, with police and firefighters blocking roads and urging residents to avoid the Lerchenau area. A police spokesman said there was no danger to the public, though the incident caused significant traffic disruption.

Surfers in downtown Munich rejoiced as the Eisbach standing wave reopened after a tragic incident in April, which temporarily shut down the popular surfing spot.
