Five years in the making, "Pole to Pole with Will Smith" follows the Oscar-winning actor's journey through the planet's most extreme environments from the South Pole to the North Pole. The 57-year-old celebrity travels across all seven continents, taking him from the icefields of Antarctica to the jungles of the Amazon, the mountains of the Himalayas, the deserts of Africa, the islands of the Pacific and the icebergs of the Arctic.

From National Geographic's exploration of the sea in " Ocean with David Attenborough," to Hulu's documentation of the life of Sly Stone in " Sly Lives! (aka The Burden of Black Genius)" and ESPN's ongoing "30 for 30" series, the CCDA honors a wide range of topics, bringing together leading filmmakers and industry professionals from all circles. Kathleen Martínez has spent the last 20 years searching for the lost tomb of Cleopatra. Her work is part of a new Nat Geo special called "Cleopatra's Final Secret." Martínez's theory is that because the Romans hated Cleopatra, the queen had her deceased body sneaked to the Taposiris Magna temple in Egypt through underwater tunnels for burial.

National Geographic's 'Underdogs' focuses on animal misfits, showcasing their unique traits and giving recognition to often overlooked species, narrated by Ryan Reynolds.
