A total of 8,199 patients in Irish hospitals were left waiting for a bed this month, showing a significant issue with overcrowding despite a slight decrease from April.
The inmate's sudden death is now the subject of multiple investigations, necessitating inquiries by the Irish Prison Service, the Office of the Inspector of Prisons, and An Garda Siochana.
Shay Dhury, a prison officer, described the chaotic environment at Pentonville, stating, 'They go for each other - and when two people go, other people go. It ends up us just trying to stop the fight. It gets really messy sometimes - stressful, yeah.'
