An anonymous collector aims to buy every first-edition Kabuto Fossil card, amassing thousands (1,748) and sparking a meme-driven surge in card value.
The sheer madness of Pokémon card prices not only continues on with the latest Mega Evolution set, but gets even more ludicrous. A year back, when putting together these galleries of the highest-priced cards in a set, the bottom end of the top 10 would generally be around $10, with a peak at around $100. For Mega Evolution, our number 10 card is currently selling for over $50, and your eyes will be watering by the end.
the trading card game has opted to return to Mega Evolutions, perfectly in time with the giant monsters' resurgence in the forthcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A. The first new set, out today in the U.S., is aptly and simply called Mega Evolution, and based on opening a few dozen packs, I'm delighted to report that a newfound generosity seems to have arrived.
If it ain't a story about sudden acts of intimidation and threats of violence over them, then it's probably one about scalpers and reselling. Thankfully, no one got hurt (physically) this time as the Mega Evolution Phantasmal Flames Elite Trainer Box (ETB), Booster Display Box, and Booster Bundle all sold out during their pre-order sale yesterday, with significant amounts of them going to folks who have no interest in actually using them to play the game.
