SAN FRANCISCO -- Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been medically cleared and will start Friday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves without a minutes restriction, according to coach Steve Kerr. Curry missed the Warriors' previous five games with a left quadriceps contusion. He also missed three games in November due to sickness. The game against the Timberwolves also presents the first opportunity for Curry to play with younger brother Seth in an NBA regular season game.
The Warriors are expected to have a veteran starting-caliber guard return to their lineup on Thursday when they face the 76ers in Philadelphia, but it won't be Stephen Curry. De'Anthony Melton, who has missed the first month-plus of the season rehabbing an ACL tear from last year, is set to make his season debut, according to ESPN. Melton, 27, signed with the Warriors in the offseason as a free agent after suffering the knee injury last November
Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will not make the upcoming road trip to Philadelphia, Cleveland and Chicago because of a left thigh contusion, extending his absence at least three more games. Curry was set for an official re-evaluation on Thursday, but Warriors coach Steve Kerr got in front of the update. He called Curry a "long shot" to return by the weekend, so Kerr, Curry and Rick Celebrini, the franchise's lead medical decision-maker, opted to leave him back in the Bay Area for treatment.
Together with our teammates, he helped build something rare: a brand with credibility, community impact, and product that performs at the highest level, Under Armour president Kevin Plank said of Curry. For Under Armour, this moment is about discipline and focus on the core UA brand during a critical stage of our turnaround. And for Stephen, it's the right moment to let what we created evolve on his terms. We'll always be grateful for what he's brought to the UA team.
Aaron Gordon's 10th and final made 3 on Thursday night at Chase Center felt like the final dagger. It came with 26 seconds left in regulation, putting the visiting Denver Nuggets up by three and punctuating a career night for the 12th-year forward. But the biggest perimeter fireworks show in Gordon's life happened to come against the greatest shooter of all-time.
Amid a very busy year -- a stunning trade and max contract extension, playoffs in a new city and EuroBasket competition -- Luka Doncic achieved an under-the-radar accomplishment in 2025. Thanks to a host of happy Los Angeles Lakers fans celebrating their new star, Doncic had the highest-selling jersey in the NBA, breaking an 11-year run where LeBron James or Stephen Curry's jersey sales led the league. A decade removed from the start of Curry's and James' Finals clashes, the NBA is still largely defined by those living legends, now 37 and 40 years old, respectively. It's not just the jersey sales, though they ranked second and third, respectively, behind Doncic.
