Monday was the deadline to file candidacies, and the battle among Democrats to represent the state in the U.S. Senate was thrown into turmoil on a day full of surprises. In the morning, Colin Allred the best-known Democratic hopeful, who lost last year in his attempt to unseat Ted Cruz dropped out of the race. And in the afternoon, Dallas congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, well-known for her rapid-fire viral clashes with Republicans in recent years, announced that she would run.

And you know, what I took from that was that I needed to try and decide what I thought would be best for the state, for the party, in a time and in a year where there is so much at stake This is not a normal time. And there are so many people who I've met who are so afraid. And in Texas, we are bearing the brunt of so many of these of this president's policies,

Well, first of all, full disclosure, I am a longtime friend of John Cornyn, the Republican incumbent. We've known each other since he was a district court judge 30 some odd years ago in Bear County in his early 30s. So I've known him a long, long time. I think the president's going to sit and watch. He understands that it would be problematic if he were to endorse against a sitting Republican senator, particularly one is respected as John Corbyn.
