This is the terrifying moment a train passenger launches a bottle attack on strangers. Footage released by British Transport Police on Thursday (11 December), shows an intoxicated Thomas Craig stab a man with a broken bottle of Buckfast, on a train from Glasgow Queen Street to Perth on 16 February 2024. The man was left fighting for his life. Craig, 48, of Walton Street in East Renfrewshire, was convicted of attempted murder and serious assault on 28 November, following a four day trial.

It was early morning on 1 January last year when Colin McGarva dived into a flooding river in Worcester to rescue an unconscious woman. McGarva said he didn't think twice about the risk to himself, or the devastating loss his newborn son would suffer had he too been swept away by the fast-flowing icy waters. I didn't stop to think because the instinct the instant reaction is to help someone in need, he said.

A man with a large knife is believed to have been shot with a Taser by police after going on a bloody rampage on a high-speed train after it left Peterborough station in Cambridgeshire on Saturday evening. British Transport Police (BTP) declared a major incident and said two people were arrested after the train was stopped at Huntingdon station. Police also declared "Plato", the national code word used by police and emergency services when responding to a "marauding terror attack", before the declaration was later rescinded.

"At around 1:55 pm today a man on an ICE train travelling towards Vienna injured several people with dangerous objects," police said.
