The 71-year-old mother has since been released from a hospital. The shooting happened about 7 p.m. on Aug. 10 inside the family's home in the 26000 block of Gading Road."
"Police said in the course of the still on-going investigation, they learned the son, Robert Baltrip Jr., was employed as a security guard, and spent most of his time outside of work at home, often staying alone in his room. Police said the father was upset with his son over issues related to what he perceived as the son's lack of cleanliness."

Investigators learned the son worked as a security guard and spent much of his time at home, often alone in his room. The father had expressed anger about the son's perceived lack of cleanliness. The mother called police after the shooting, and Hayward police have investigated seven homicides this year.
