The DC motor-driven conical-burr grinder offers eight RPM speed settings and 70 steps of adjustment within the espresso range, accessible through a dedicated touchscreen. Its three modes of operation include manual, grind-by-weight and grind-by-time. The brewing system includes an insulated dedicated brew boiler and a scale in the receptacle platform for brew-by-weight features. Dual 15-bar Ulka pumps and multiple needle valves enable rapid-response pressure profiling within a 3-to-15-bar adjustment range, with up to four flow modes assignable per phase of stable pressure.
Coffee equipment seller Prima Coffee Equipment last week launched Second Shot Market, an online marketplace for pre-owned or open-box coffee equipment. Open to the public as of Sept. 22, the site hosts listings of home and commercial coffee equipment, as well as cafe and food service equipment. The platform walks vendors through the processes of creating accounts, pricing items, taking photos and shipping.
For a limited time, it's changing its name to Maxwell Apartment. Just in time for National Coffee Day, the coffee brand owned by the Kraft Heinz Company announced that while supplies last, it's selling a year's supply of its specially packaged coffee for just $40 on Amazon, or what it's calling a 12-month "lease." It's the same exact coffee, just cheaper at about 10 cents less per ounce. (It also has a new name for the first time in 133 years.)
"This is literally the only reason I go to Starbucks over Dunkin. The cold foam," wrote one Redditor, proving that the whipped topping is the deciding factor for some customers. Starbucks' cold foam - added to everything from iced coffee and matcha to frappuccinos - also has the advantage over Dunkin's because it's made to order and can be customized with different flavors and milk alternatives. Unlike Dunkin', Starbucks also offers a non-dairy cold foam that makes the topping more adaptable to different diets.
Controversy is baked in - which is why it should come as no surprise that Contrarian Thinking CEO Codie Sanchez made waves for a hot take she shared in a podcast interview. In a clip of the interview, posted by TikTok account @goated.quotes, Sanchez says that she can tell how successful someone is by how they order coffee. "Show me how long it takes you to order at a counter," says the CEO, "and I will show you your bank account."
Klatch Coffee will expand its partnership with Sprouts Farmers Market, opening 20 new cafes inside its stores, according to a news release from the Rancho Cucamonga chain. The expansion will include Klatch's first location in San Diego County and more than double the number of its cafes. It currently has 12 in San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange and Los Angeles counties, the farthest from home being in Redondo Beach.
Let's be upfront; our original aim was to profile coffee makers that are completely plastic-free, at least in the parts that come into contact with hot water. Plastic components-especially the thin pods used in many single-cup systems-can leach Bisphenol A (BPA) into the resulting brew (reportedly up to 55 times faster than in plain water). In practice, though, apart from manual coffee makers like the stovetop espresso and pour-over sort, nearly every coffee maker incorporates some plastic.
Shortly after taking the Starbucks job a year ago, Niccol launched a back-to-basics strategy. He culled the bloated menu, launched an ad campaign that refocused consumers' attention on the quality of the coffee itself, jettisoned those printed drink-order stickers on cups for cute handwritten Sharpie notes, and worked to improve the physical experience of sitting in a Starbucks and enjoying your drink.
Adopted in 2023, the EUDR requires companies bringing coffee, cocoa, soy, cattle, palm oil, rubber and wood (and many derived products) to the EU market to prove - through the geolocation of farm plots and risk-based due diligence - that the goods are deforestation-free. After facing pressure from industry organizations, including large European coffee companies, the Commission has already agreed to delay enforcement of the law by one year.
Coffee and tea both come with potential health benefits, but sweeteners, creamers, whipped cream and other add-ons can lead to excess added sugar, fat and calories. With well over half of Americans drinking coffee every day, the way it is prepared matters. Here are strategies to navigate the top ingredient concerns when preparing or ordering your favorite hot (or iced) drink.
Observed annually on Oct. 1, International Coffee Day was established by the ICO member states - representing the majority of the world's leading coffee-producing countries - and first celebrated in 2015. Since its inception, the holiday has aimed to highlight the contributions of the world's coffee farmers and producers who bring coffee to life for consumers worldwide, while providing messaging for events, promotions and other marketing initiatives.
If cascara "tea" hasn't yet landed on your caffeinated-beverage radar, that's about to change. But despite originating from the same coffee plant, cascara is surprisingly low in caffeine - much lower than coffee, by a long shot. In lab tests commissioned by Square Mile Coffee Roasters, even the strongest, steepest infusions of cascara peaked at an average of 111.4 milligrams per liter of caffeine.
The viral video of a Starbucks barista declining to put " Charlie Kirk" on a customer's cup, citing corporate policy, has brought scrutiny to the company's requirement that staff write on every beverage. The mandate, intended to improve the customer experience, is a source of frustration for some baristas - because failing to do it, or writing the wrong thing, can have consequences.
Amid soaring prices for coffee at U.S. grocery stores, legislators are planning to introduce a bipartisan bill to exempt coffee from recently imposed U.S. tariffs, which are fees paid by U.S. importers. The Washington Post was first to report (paywall) that Reps. Don Bacon (R-Neb.) and Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) intend to file legislation exempting coffee - including green coffee, roasted coffee and coffee byproducts such as husks - from any tariffs imposed after Jan. 19, 2025.

It wasn't for her teaching skills or her artistic talent, but for her enormous collection of coffee mugs. Over the course of 12 years, Isikli managed to collect more than 3,000 coffee cups.
While this might be the case, buying locally roasted beans will reward you with a better tasting coffee, and it all comes down to freshness. Coffee has a long shelf life in terms of spoilage, but for peak aroma and taste you have one to two weeks after roasting before a decline begins, even if you buy whole beans. If you're buying coffee at the supermarket, this freshness window will likely have already passed by the time it arrives on shelves.
Keurig Dr Pepper (KDP) has appointed Olivier Lemire as president of its U.S. coffee business, according to an SEC filing signed Sept. 17, 2025. The move comes amid Keurig Dr Pepper's $18 billion acquisition of Europe-based coffee conglomerate JDE Peet's, announced last month. That plan will involve the creation of two publicly traded companies, including one focused entirely on the coffee category called Global Coffee Co.
Not only did this flavor combination sound like a match made in heaven, but it teased us with an enticing scent as it brewed from the machine, like fresh-baked cookies coming out of the oven. Upon the first sip, we could tell that this pod was just that -- a tease. The taste was bitter and artificial, almost chemical-like, and barely resembled an actual coffee at all.
"We believe that the current international agricultural system, with its use of pesticides and chemicals is not contributing to the welfare of anybody, especially the farmers, and is actually contributing quite a bit to global climate change," Vandermeer said in an announcement from the university. "We take the position that in order to incorporate the rules of ecology into the development of new forms of agriculture, we need to understand what those rules are and how those rules work."
