Google will eliminate the 'Significant Skin Exposure' sensitive category from Blocking controls starting July 30, 2025, impacting ad safety measures for publishers. The change aims to enhance brand safety controls. After removal, broad blocking of ads showing bare skin will not be possible. A 'Deprecated' label will be added for those who previously blocked this category. Existing blocks will cease to apply by September 30, 2025. More precise categories remain available, such as 'Reference to Sex', 'Sexual Reproductive Health', and apparel subcategories like 'Swimwear' and 'Underwear'.
From July 30 2025, we'll start to remove the 'Significant Skin Exposure' sensitive category from Blocking controls.
Google said this change is part of an ongoing effort to give publishers more precise brand safety controls.
Once this happens you will not be able to broadly block creatives that appear to show bare skin via this sensitive category.
To block unwanted ads with significant skin exposure, block the following categories if unsuitable for users: 'Reference to Sex', 'Sexual Reproductive Health', 'Dating', 'Swimwear', and 'Underwear'.
