"A handful of films opened theatrically this weekend, running the gamut from major awards contender One Battle After Anotherto kids' flick Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie to horror sequel The Strangers - Chapter 2. , the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, was shown in a variety of premium exhibition formats including VistaVision, 70-mm., and Imax. Those increased ticket prices helped contribute to a $22 million opening weekend - the biggest in PTA's career."

Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie finished second with $13 million, translating to 13 MFL points. The Strangers - Chapter 2 opened to $5 million, underperforming relative to last year's Chapter 1, which opened to $11 million and finished domestically above $35 million. Eleanor the Great opened on roughly 900 screens and grossed just north of $935,000, delaying points for the 562 players who drafted it.
