A handful of films opened theatrically this weekend, running the gamut from major awards contender One Battle After Anotherto kids' flick Gabby's Dollhouse: The Movie to horror sequel The Strangers - Chapter 2. , the new Paul Thomas Anderson film, was shown in a variety of premium exhibition formats including VistaVision, 70-mm., and Imax. Those increased ticket prices helped contribute to a $22 million opening weekend - the biggest in PTA's career.
