Brigade saves six trapped Londoners every day
Briefly

London Fire Brigade (LFB) rescues approximately six people a day, with many incidents involving individuals trapped behind locked doors. Over the past 18 months, LFB has responded to diverse rescue situations, including individuals trapped in cat flaps and window cleaners stuck at height. The brigade emphasizes the importance of calling 999 without hesitation, as waiting can worsen situations. Since January 2024, LFB has rescued 3,627 individuals, including 1,754 from locked doors, 463 from lifts, and 318 from fires. Most rescues are completed in under an hour, showcasing the varied skills and equipment of firefighters.
LFB has revealed it is currently rescuing around six people a day on average, with most rescues not from fires, but from behind locked doors.
Most of our rescues are completed in less than an hour, so it's much better to ask for help than to wait and risk further harm.
