San Jose police are actively searching for a suspect involved in two sexual assaults that occurred on the Los Gatos Creek Trail, targeting two women just hours apart. Both incidents were reported between Leigh Avenue and Bascom. Captain Macedonio Zuniga emphasized the seriousness of the situation, reassuring the public that officers are canvassing the area thoroughly. Local residents express fear and heightened concern for safety while community leaders stress the importance of remaining vigilant, especially when exercising on the trail. Police urge anyone with information to contact them immediately.
"They were just walking through the area when they were accosted by an individual who had unexpectedly assaulted them," Zuniga said.
"Oh I'm petrified - this is why I'm standing here all day just being vigilant talking to other women because yeah, I'm afraid," she said.
"I mean we run in a group, we always emphasize safety, we always tell people don't run with your earphones in," Deborba said.
"We'll be out here all night until we can canvas the area as we possibly can. And we're also going to be out here the next week to two weeks ensuring that the community understands how serious we take these types of incidents," Captain Zuniga said.
