A Boston mother is grieving the loss of her 4-year-old son, Sa'Doni Lee Powell, whose death is being investigated by the homicide unit after he was found unresponsive. The incident occurred in Mattapan while the boy was at home with his father. The mother reports seeing bruises on her son and has expressed her suspicion towards the father, who allegedly does not face current charges. Sa'Doni had been excited about starting kindergarten and enjoying summer festivities, amplifying the tragedy of his untimely death.
According to a heavily redacted police report obtained by Boston.com, Boston firefighters on the scene informed responding officers that "the victim was nonviable" before he was transported to Boston Children's Hospital.
Parris told Boston.com she was at the hospital for herself when the boy's father called to tell her something was wrong.
He was so excited for summer, so excited to start kindergarten in September, excited to see the sunflowers across the street from our house bloom, Genesis Parris said about her son.
When I got there, he was on the phone with 911 and giving my son CPR, and I dropped my stuff and ran over to him.
