The Malibu Barbie Café - a ticketed dining experience tied to the Barbie brand - is set to open April 17 at 101 S. Market St., near Faneuil Hall. Organizers say the café will be modeled after the beachside look of 1970s Malibu, the era when Malibu Barbie was first introduced. The project, a collaboration between Bucket Listers and Mattel, has previously run in cities including New York, Miami, Chicago, Austin, and Las Vegas.
Hoi An lanterns hang sparsely throughout the venue. Dancers glide across the stage in silk tunics. Rows of Bánh Tét, Vietnamese rice cakes enjoyed during Lunar New Year, line display tables. And nearby, inflatable horses and a miniature stable invite children to pose for photos - fitting the Year of the Horse theme. The Lunar New Year - known as Tết in Vietnam - is one of the most significant holidays across several Asian countries and among diaspora communities worldwide.
However, not all Irish bars are the same. Every Boston local will have their own favorite spot. Some have been in operation for over 100 years and offer simple pours and a corner bar vibe, while others are new to the city's food and drink scene and offer refined takes on traditional Irish menus. You'll even find ones offering live Irish music several nights a week, and ones located central to others - perfect for a mini-pub tour.
Boston's collective creativity shines brightest when heavy snow blankets the city, leaving residents scrambling for space savers to mark their territory. And needless to say, space savers were out in full force following last weekend's blizzard, from a jubilant chef statue to traffic cones, folding chairs, and even a commode. It's a cutthroat business, after all: those who steal someone else's shoveled-out parking space may run the risk of angry notes, slashed tires, or physical blows.
"We will see bands of heavy snow with rates of 1 to 3 inches of snow per hour overnight Sunday." We are just over three days away from the most significant winter storm to strike Boston and Southern New England in just about four years. A 6-inch or greater major storm is highly likely, and I think there's going to be a wide swath of at least 8 to 16 inches for many of us. But keep in mind, those numbers can also change.
Streaming's steamy hit "Heated Rivalry" has maintained a lofty perch atop the HBO Max rankings (where it airs in the U.S.) and seems to be equally dominating social media, morning and late-night TV, and even the social feeds of NHL teams. The Boston Bruins nearly broke the internet last month after using the caption "Heated rivalry" on an X post during a game against the Montreal Canadiens.
Authorities allege Haney intentionally struck 79-year-old Axelrod with his car near the intersection of Commonwealth Avenue and Hereford Street around 8 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly drove onto the Commonwealth Avenue Mall and fled the scene after mowing the philanthropist down. Axelrod was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Boston police said. His dog was also killed in the collision.
By the numbers: The monthly median price for a coworking membership in the Boston area is $235, about $10 more than the national median, according to CoworkingCafe's Q3 industry report. Higher-tiered plans and small offices within coworking spaces could cost two or three times that amount. Boston's median day pass price ($45) also exceeds the national median ($30), per the report.
This year, law enforcement officials in Boston put a greater emphasis on retail theft enforcement, leading to a dramatic increase in the number of shoplifting arrests. But as officials tout those year-end statistics, a City Council member is publicly calling for the police to step up enforcement efforts even more. In 2025, shoplifting arrests were up 261% compared to the five-year average, officials said at a community meeting focused entirely on retail theft that was held at the beginning of December.
One of Boston's most famous restaurants, O Ya, is still reliably glorious, even after running for almost 20 years. Tucked away near South Station, the omakase is opulent and decadent. But, the experience comes with a wink, with an alt-1980s playlist heavy on the Cure and the Smiths, with a little Lana Del Ray to keep things sexy. O Ya's only dining option is the $295 omakase (about $383.78 with fees and taxes), full of 20 courses of nigiri, sushi, and some surprises.
Good morning! There's snow on the ground in parts of Boston today and the winter meetings are right around the corner. We're in the thick of the offseason. So what's next for the Sox? Well, here's a reminder that we don't really know: Maybe they'll get a big bat! Maybe they'll get more pitching! Maybe they won't do anything! Talk about what you want, ignore most of the rumors, and be good to one another.
When I booked a last-minute trip to Boston and Martha's Vineyard, I didn't give much thought to my packing list until the night before our flight. But then I remembered how much walking would be involved, and I knew I didn't want to wake up every day and ask myself, "Should I wear my cute shoes or my walking shoes?"
In the Happy City Index 2025 by the Institute for Quality of Life, Boston ranked 38th globally, placing it as the second happiest city in the U.S. and the top city in the "silver list" (cities ranked 38-100). "Yeah, I did a double-take. For a second, I had to check myself - alligators are not native to Boston waterways, right?" Lieberman said. "I texted my coworkers because I had a morning meeting: 'Hey guys, this is a good excuse to be late for work. There is an alligator right in front of me and I don't know what to do.'"
In the bright, brand-new lobby of a Back Bay advertising agency, a step-and-repeat bearing the city of Boston's seal is set up like a Fashion Week photo wall. Mayor Michelle Wu, cradling her infant daughter, leans in for snapshots with a steady stream of visitors: a woman in a crimson corduroy coat, another in a cardigan dotted with three-dimensional flowers.

Trump has previously suggested he could declare cities not safe for the 104-game soccer tournament and alter a detailed hosting plan that FIFA confirmed in 2022. It includes games at NFL stadiums near New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. World Cup host sites aren't up to Trump. The 11 U.S. cities plus three in Mexico and two in Canada are contracted with FIFA, which would face significant logistical and legal issues to make changes in the eight months before the June 11 kickoff.

Some hotels feel like just a place to sleep, but others feel like a full experience. The Four Seasons Hotel Boston falls into the latter category. For years, I'd heard about the Four Seasons' timeless luxury, but I'd never actually stayed at any of the chain's hotels. That changed on a recent trip to Boston, where I checked into the Four Seasons on Boylston Street. The 239-room hotel is situated in a prime location downtown, directly across from the Public Garden,
