On Wednesday afternoon at Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco, a fatal shooting occurred involving a male victim who was shot while in his car. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the victim in distress, and he later succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds two blocks away from the scene. A suspect turned himself in soon after, admitting to the crime. On-site investigations revealed the use of a large firearm, with recovered bullet casings. Mayor Lurie expressed appreciation for the rapid police response as this marks the city's ninth homicide of the year.
Police found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in his car at Leavenworth and Beach streets, as the Chronicle reports. The victim was later declared dead at the scene.
A witness, New York City resident Jeremy Yi, told the station that he saw the victim clearly 'in distress, kind of like wailing almost' and 'shaking' in his car.
Mayor Daniel Lurie was quick to praise the SFPD, though it appears their job was mostly done for them in this case.
This was San Francisco's ninth homicide of the year to date.
