2024 is Barbie's 65th anniversary and LDF is getting on the celebrations, with a little help from Nina Tolstrup of Studiomama, Mattel and Visit Greater Palm Springs. This installation, made up of three interactive pavilions, blends playful design and desert modernism to show how the Barbie DreamHouse has taken inspiration from the mid-century modernist architecture of Greater Palm Springs. Each pavilion on the Strand will be open round the clock so you can see how the experiences differ from day to night.

Soft Interfaces is a groundbreaking project that is changing how we interact with everyday objects by merging advanced technology with textiles. The result is a lamp whose brightness can be changed just by pressing or stretching its soft, fabric-covered surface. This is possible thanks to liquid metal embedded within custom-knitted fabrics. The collaboration between the Fraunhofer Institute for Reliability and Microintegration IZM and WINT Design Lab offers a glimpse into a future where touch and movement replace screens and buttons in our daily technology.

Created by Timon Bohn, Garden of Forking Paths is an installation comprised of a matrix of custom printed circuit boards that make use of the physical connection between electrical resistance and heat.

The Swivel seats, designed by Sabine Marcelis, are artworks that can spin, challenging fixed public seating and allowing users to choose their preferred direction.

The Dancing Bench installation by Soft Baroque redefines public seating by encouraging physical interaction, transforming utilitarian objects into engaging sensory experiences.

Following such a positive reaction, Doug continued developing - and experimenting - with what became Form + Fidget, excited by its point of difference compared to standard scroll-and-swipe interactivity as an satisfying instrument that intuitively responds to clicks and taps.
