Pineiro, 30, stabilized the 49ers' kicking game after inconsistency from 2023 third-round pick Jake Moody, who Friday agreed to re-sign with the Washington Commanders on a one-year deal. Of the 29 field goals that Pineiro attempted last season, he made all except a 64-yard attempt that hit the crossbar in Indianapolis as the first-half expired in the 49ers' victorious December visit.
Don't sign Tyreek Hill With an ACL tear and knee dislocation to recover from, there's no guarantee Hill will provide the downfield threat the 49ers need when he was on the receiving end of 2-3 Jet Chip Wasp for the Chiefs in Super Bowl 54 or, after that, the Miami Dolphins. Plus there's too much baggage, starting with the heinous way he began his NFL career. Hard pass.
SANTA CLARA The globe-trotting 49ers will make NFL history next season by playing international games on two different continents, including hosting a game in Mexico City, the NFL announced Wednesday morning. Compounding the 49ers' worldwide travel itinerary is a season opener against the Los Angeles Rams in the league's Australian debut in Melbourne. The multi-continent international scenario does not sit well with several 49ers, who also will play games from coast to coast in the United States.
