In 1971, the singer-songwriter John Denver famously claimed that sunshine on his shoulders made him happy. Researchers have put this idea to the test many times since, and found that it is basically true.

My therapist tells me it is seasonal memory. I find it a bit strange, since in the southern hemisphere where I now live, there are no cherry blossoms blooming as they are now in Herbert Park.

Winter can be pretty bleak with its cold and darkness lasting far beyond the holiday season, prompting us to seek ways to stay warm and comfortable.
