According to investigators, the robberies happened over several weeks in December and followed a similar pattern. In one of the earliest cases, police say a man walking out of an Apple store on Flatbush Avenue on Dec. 5 had an iPad taken directly from his hand. No injuries were reported. Later in the month, on Dec. 22, police say a woman walking along State Street in Downtown Brooklyn had a bag containing an iPad taken from her. No serious injuries were reported.
Police in Brooklyn released surveillance images of a man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Crown Heights on Saturday, and are asking for the public's help in identifying him. The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. on Nov. 1 in front of an apartment building on Eastern Parkway, within the 71st Precinct. Police said the suspect approached the victim, Tyson Harps of the Bronx, and fired multiple shots, striking him in the body. Harps was pronounced dead at the scene.
A school administrator reported a 9-year-old girl missing after she hadn't been seen in months. When deputies went to Melodee Buzzard's home to investigate, her mother was there but the young girl was nowhere to be found. Now, officials are investigating why her mom drove them in a rental car from California to Nebraska and why the 9-year-old was apparently wearing a wig in surveillance photos captured earlier this month.
Six people are wanted in connection with a robbery last month in Brooklyn in which a 50-year-old man was beaten with an iron stick and had about $800 stolen, the NYPD said Thursday. The incident occurred on Friday, July 4, at approximately 4:30 a.m. in front of 827 59th Street, a residential building on the border of Borough Park and Sunset Park.
