The sustainable Hortus office building creates a modern and flexible working environment for a new generation of technology companies that are settling in the Basel metropolitan region. Our client, Senn, commissioned us to design a radically sustainable office building made of renewable and recyclable building materials. The brief initiated a design process aimed at combining the lowest possible grey energy during construction, an energy-optimized concept during operation, and a surplus of self-generated energy.

Guwahati International Airport (GAU), also known as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, was just announced as one of seven winners in the International Architecture Awards 2025 for the Airports and Transportation Centers category, for a brand-new terminal that will soon debut. The airport primarily serves the northeastern corner of Assam, India. The beautiful terminal, designed by the firm Nudes Architecture, was commissioned as part of an effort to improve local infrastructure and accommodate a higher number of air travelers. The structure is inspired by Assam's natural environment, culture, and biodiversity-and particularly by orchids and bamboo. In Assam, there are more than 400 wild species of orchids, and "bamboo orchids" was the main inspiration for the airport's design brief.

In Fukushima, a region still defined by the aftershocks of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and subsequent nuclear disaster, Japanese architecture studio Vuild has envisioned a structure that seeks not only to host matches but also to embody the spirit of regeneration. "When people first encounter our house, they struggle to believe it's a residence... People simply don't build homes like this."

The Newburgh Light House is a highly sustainable housing project that cleverly integrates into a compact site, overcoming various architectural and safety challenges.

In countries that have very strong building regulations, we cannot use natural bamboo as a building material, including in Japan. However, if we laminate the bamboo, we can control the quality, strength, and durability. So in the pavilion, I'm using laminated bamboo as a structure in a very unusual way.
