Anibal Hernandez-Santana, the 64-year old suspected shooter, was arrested by the FBI on Saturday, one day after he opened fired on ABC 10 in Sacramento in a drive-by shooting. Hernandez-Santana had posted $200,000 bail earlier on Saturday before he was arrested by the FBI for violating a statute that says no one can interfere with any communication of any station licensed by the U.S. Government, KCRA 3 reporter Peyton Headlee reported on Sunday.
The 64-year-old man who police said fired three shots into a local ABC studio after late-night comedian Jimmy Kimmel was suspended this week reportedly had a social media account that showed a clear hatred for President Donald Trump. Variety reported an X account for Anibal Hernandez-Santana, the suspected gunman, contained a steady stream of anti-Trump commentary. Where is a good heart attack when we need it the most?? Please Join in my thoughts and prayers for the physical demise of our fearful leader, Hernandez-Santana posted on Thursday.
ABC10 (KXTV-TV), a Sacramento local TV news station, was struck by gunfire Friday afternoon. According to KCRA 3, the shooting was a drive-by attack. Bullets hit one of the studio's windows but no one was injured, although people were at work in the building at the time. "Just after 130pm, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Broadway at ABC10," read a statement provided to SFGATE by the Sacramento Police Department.
One can only imagine the motivations for a person doing a drive-by shooting to send an apparent message at Sacramento's ABC10, the same week that Jimmy Kimmel was pulled off the air for comments about the Charlie Kirk shooting. We're living in some scarily gun-crazed times, and that now includes a random drive-by shooting incident outside Sacramento ABC affilliate ABC10.
