Thirty-two cats and one dog were killed in an apartment fire on Sunday morning, Sep. 21 in Long Beach. Crews responded at 7:21 a.m. to the blaze at a three-story apartment building in the 3500 block of Linden Avenue, in the California Heights neighborhood, according to the Long Beach Fire Department. Multiple people called 911 after seeing smoke in the third-floor hallway and fire coming from one of the units, said LBFD spokesperson Capt. Jack Crabtree.
