Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed a dream start to their first Champions League campaign since 2022-23, as they crushed Galatasaray 5-1 in their league-stage opener on Thursday. Eintracht fell behind in the eighth minute as Leroy Sane drove forward and offloaded to Yunus Akgun, who skipped inside to slot home. But the response of Dino Toppmoller's team was emphatic.

Borussia Dortmund let a two-goal advantage slip late on as they drew 3-3 against St. Pauli in their Bundesliga curtain-raiser on Saturday. Dortmund had Filippo Mane sent off five minutes from time, with goals from Danel Sinani and Eric Smith seeing St. Pauli completing the turnaround at Millerntor-Stadion. Niko Kovac's side took the lead in the 34th minute through Serhou Guirassy's header, though the striker missed a penalty five minutes later to double Dortmund's advantage.
Leverkusen got off to a quick start, with Quansah scoring six minutes into his Bundesliga debut after connecting with Alejandro Grimaldo's free-kick and heading past Oliver Baumann. However, Quansah was caught cold at the other end when Asllani managed to evade him in the box before firing beyond Mark Flekken at the near post to equalise in the 25th minute.
