Sunshine Borjas reportedly left her Santa Rosa home at about 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday to hike the Bodega Head Trail alone along the Sonoma Coast. A family member reported Borjas missing around midnight, according to Santa Rosa police spokesperson Patricia Seffens. Officers found her vehicle at the Bodega Head Trail parking lot around 2 a.m. on Thursday, but Borjas has not been located.

Kylee Johnson, who joined the agency in June 2024, was off duty at the time of the incident. Around 6:50 p.m., fire crews responded to a medical aid call on Taylor Avenue near Stony Point Avenue. Officials said it was unclear whether Johnson died from the fall or from a medical event. An autopsy will determine her cause of death.
