Barry George has been charged with rape and two indecent assaults against a teenager alleged to have happened almost four decades ago, police have said. The Metropolitan police said they had charged George who now lives in County Cork, Ireland. Police said the alleged offences happened in west London against a 14-year-old girl in September 1987. George, 65, was wrongly convicted of murdering the BBC journalist Jill Dando. He spent eight years in jail for the 1999 killing, before being released in 2008 after a unanimous acquittal.
Two suspects are facing criminal charges after a Tuesday night shooting at a downtown Concord parking garage injured three people. Justino Lopez-Perez, of Bay Point, was charged with attempted murder, assault with a firearm, discharging a firearm from within a vehicle and more, according to the Concord Police Department. A 95-year-old woman was arrested in New York after allegedly bludgeoning her 89-year-old nursing home roommate to death with a wheelchair pedal. Galina Smirnova, 95, is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to officials. She was transferred to another hospital before her next hearing. Ian Fotheringham, of Falmouth, is charged with threatened use of a deadly weapon in a public building, Cape and Islands District Attorney Robert Galibois announced Friday.
