CROWN HEIGHTS - CITY OFFICIALS were warned weeks before a car-ramming attack at a Crown Heights synagogue that security bollards and other hardening measures were needed - infrastructure New York City had already begun installing years earlier under former Mayor Bill de Blasio. A Dec. 30, 2025, report from the Mayor's Office for Combating Antisemitism, issued just before Mayor Zohran Mamdani took office, flagged the Chabad-Lubavitch World Headquarters as a high-risk site and recommended bollards and related protections.

The man drove into a side entrance of 770 Eastern Parkway, the Hasidic movement's headquarters, then reversed before accelerating again into the entrance multiple times. The impact knocked a door off its hinges as a crowd gathered, according to footage that was shared widely. No one was injured in the incident, which took place at 8:45 p.m. as the Chabad community marked the anniversary of the death of the movement's penultimate leader, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson.

Authorities are investigating a shooting in a crowded club in Brooklyn that resulted in three deaths and nine injuries. The incident occurred at Taste of the City Lounge just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday. Police suspect that as many as four shooters were involved, targeting individuals in what appears to be a gang-related dispute. The victims with injuries are being treated at nearby hospitals for non-life-threatening conditions. No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting, which Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch described as a "terrible shooting."
