A local court in China’s southwestern Yunnan province found a minor guilty of intentional homicide and rape, sentencing him to life imprisonment. The defendant was 14 at the time of the crime. The court ruled there was enough proof that, in the summer of 2025, he raped his then 15-year-old classmate on her way home from a party and then strangled her to death to prevent the crime from being discovered. The judges determined the offense was particularly heinous and imposed the maximum possible sentence.

Police here believe they've solved the mystery behind a seemingly random act of nighttime tree-cutting at Dublin High, which caused an estimated $60,000 to $80,000 in damage. The suspect, arrested after being identified through electronic records, is a teen boy who attended the school, authorities said.

Two boys, ages 12 and 13, were charged by a grand jury as adults in the brutal rape of a 12-year-old girl in the garden area of a Miami apartment complex over the summer. Both boys were booked into Metro West Detention Center Thursday on charges including sexual battery with serious injury, false imprisonment and kidnapping.

A Tuesday morning Bee-Line bus ride along Route 119 in Greenburgh, near the White Plains border, turned violent when police say a 15-year-old boy stabbed an adult man on board. The victim suffered wounds to his head, chest and one hand and was taken by Greenburgh EMS to Westchester Medical Center, where officials described his injuries as serious but not believed to be life-threatening.

I have no doubt the East Bay Times will publish such a story if and when such a situation occurs. The Times did report on the president's efforts in getting to a ceasefire and hostage release regarding the war in Israel and Gaza. Other than that, I honestly can't point to anything positive the president has done, especially given all his campaign promises of lowering prices and only deporting the "worst of the worst."

His administration has been nothing but cruel and heartless decisions affecting millions of hard-working people who need economic help, health care, food, education and protection from ICE.

Much like a fatal stabbing involving teenagers at San Jose's other large mall, Santana Row, back in February, the alleged shooter in this case did not actually know the men he allegedly intended to shoot, but he perceived them to be members of a rival street gang, just because of the colors they were wearing. (The 15-year-old boy killed in February, who was not a gang member, was allegedly targeted because he was wearing a red jacket on Valentine's Day.)

Seven juveniles, all 13 to 15 years old, were arrested following a police chase involving stolen cars in Norwood on Saturday. Around 1:50 a.m., two vehicles outran an officer trying to stop the vehicles on Route 1 north after they both made an illegal U-turn out of a Mobil gas station near Dean Street, according to Norwood police. The officer was able to catch up with the vehicles and the run the license plate numbers.

LIVERMORE Two boys a 14-year-old suspected driver and a 15-year-old passenger were arrested Tuesday after leading police on a chase in a stolen car that ended up crashing into an apartment building. Police said it was the second time in less than a week that the 14-year-old had fled police in a stolen vehicle. Authorities did not release information about that pursuit.

OAKLAND Three San Francisco boys, ages 15 and 16, were arrested in the Tuesday morning carjacking of a woman and an attempted carjacking where the car owner was knocked to the ground and punched and kicked, authorities said. Additional suspects were being sought in the West Oakland incidents. About 4:31 a.m. Tuesday a 31-year-old woman had her SUV stolen by several suspects including one who may have had a firearm in the 1100 block of 30th Street, authorities said.

"You have a 17-year-old kid who tried to kill people with a gun and is still walking around with guns," said a Manhattan police officer. "What do you think he's going to do with a gun? He's going to kill somebody."

The motivation for parricide is often rooted in complex interpersonal factors, particularly in the context of severe childhood trauma, such as sexual and emotional abuse.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of setting off fireworks that sparked a wildfire in southern California, forcing evacuations of about 100 canyon homes.

Police stated that during an altercation involving five juveniles, a 14-year-old shot a 17-year-old multiple times, also injuring himself in the process.

The firearm did not discharge, and the four ran off. Someone called 911 and reported that a suspect was brandishing a firearm inside the store.

"This case illustrates the complex intersection of juvenile crime, mental health, and public safety," Sheriff John Allen said in a statement. "We are taking important steps to close service gaps and expand our ability to work with juveniles involved in firearms or violent crimes."

Authorities revealed that the 17-year-old male, who remains unnamed due to his minor status, is purportedly involved in the rigorous criminal activity surrounding the wildfire.
